Students Send Messages from the Heart to a Wounded Warrior
Students from Mrs. Donnelly, Mrs. Lee, Ms. Stokes and Mrs. Jenkins' fourth grade classes put together this flag to send to a wounded Marine from Jacksonville. Tyler Southern (Mrs. Jenkins' daughter, Jaclyn's friend) was severely injured two weeks ago in Afghanistan and is now recuperating in Bethesda, Maryland. The flag is made of over 100 hearts with hand written messages from the students to let Tyler know how proud and thankful they are.

Bird Watching Treat

Mrs. Jenkins visits her dad in St. Augustine very often. During several rides down she has seen (what she thought were) flamingos flying over the 312 bridge going to Anastasia Island. For years her family has told her she imagined the beautiful pink bird. Well yesterday on another trip to visit dad she was so excited to see a flock of pink birds in a marshy area of f312 just past the bridge. She quickly made a u-turn to join the other bird watchers who were causing quite a traffic jam. Today she has discovered these are Roseate Spoonbills and the photographer she spoke with had counted 41 of the beauties! So it wasn't her imagination - just the wrong pink bird.
