Thank You "Mystery Reader"

Students at Beauclerc Elementary were treated by wonderful adults who took the time to read in the classrooms. Mrs. Lewis (Dawn's mom) read The Boy Who Changed the World by Andy Andrews to Mrs. Donnelly and Jenkins' class. It is an incredible true story that shows children that every choice you make - good or bad, can make a difference. Thank you, Mrs. Lewis for sharing this terrific book with us.

Dress Your Favorite Book Character

Fourth graders were excited about dressing like their favorite book character. The variety of characters came from Husky in a Hut, The Hunger Games, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Jumanji and of course Punctuation Takes a Vacation (can you tell we have been editing?).

Dear Ssgt. Wright,

Students wrote letters this week to their penpal, Ssgt. Bryan Wright from Mandarin who is currently serving in Afghanistan with the Air Force. They helped pack a box of snacks, hand warmers and a blanket to keep Bryan warm this winter.

Students "Travel" Abroad

Students received a special treat this week with a visit from Raha Riazati's mom. She taught the class all about her home country of Iran. Students learned the location and geography, art, music, culture and food. They had many questions about history of the country and the effects of the revolution of 1979. Raha's mom also brought in a traditional dish to share.

The Miracle of Science

Students in Mrs. Donnelly and Mrs. Jenkins' class had 100% participation in the reading celebration today! Bring on the next book goal:)

Van Allsburg Author Study

Fourth graders began an author study of Chris Van Allsburg with Mrs. Hartnett and continued it in their classroom. We have read almost all of this author's terrific fantasy fiction picture books, discussed the attributes of each one and compared the books. Now we are ready to write about our comparisons. But wait...there is one more book we haven't read. To be continued...

We've Got Spirit - Yes We Do!

Beauclerc students showed their spirit today by dressing like the 70's. Take a look at these outfits and hairdos!
