Dear sixth graders, I hope if you are reading this you are having a terrific summer and finding time to read some great books. My summer is going by very quickly, but that is because I have been so busy. For me, summer break is time to catch up on things at home like yard work and cleaning out closets. I did lots of both! Summer means time to spend with family (this is the best part of vacation time). So my family and I went to the beach and out to eat at restaurants A LOT!!! I also spent time with my "teacher" friends hanging out and having lunch.
My dog, Bear is certainly glad that I have been at home so much, she loves playing out in the yard and going for walks.
One of my favorite children's book authors is Patricia Polacco, but until this summer, I had only read about 5 of her books. So this last month I went to the public library and school and the internet...and I read 30 more of her fabulous picture books. I think her best stories are the ones based on her own family. I can't wait to read some to my new fifth graders.
The very best part of this summer, was July 12 when my grandson was born. Since then I have been staying at my daughter, Jessica's house, helping with the new baby. Of course I think he is the cutest, smartest, strongest baby boy on the planet. Being a grandma is the BEST!
So enjoy your last couple weeks of summer and read lots of books so you will be ready for SIXTH GRADE! Miss you all. Love, Mrs. Jenkins
p.s. Thank you Brittany and Nissa for the letters you wrote to me. You made my day when I found them in my mailbox.
