Principal Evan Visits 4th Grade

Mrs. Donnelly's son, Evan visited fourth graders and joined in the "cupcake" fun!

Beauclerc Food Drive for the Military

Students at Beauclerc Elementary School brought in donations for deployed military last week. Thank you for your generosity! The packages will be shipped to a unit of Marines in Afghanistan for the holidays.

Special Guest Reads America's White Table

Mrs. Jenkins' daughter, Cpl Jaclyn Freda visited the fourth graders today to talk about branches of the military and veterans. She read America's White Table by Margo Theis Raven. She did an awesome job explaining why we celebrate Veteran's Day.

Military Pen Pal

Mrs. Donnelly and Mrs. Jenkins' fourth graders have a penpal. He is Ssgt. Bryan Wright from Jacksonville, Florida. Bryan is currently deployed in Afghanistan; he is in the Air National Guard. The students have been writing letters and making cards and yesterday they recieved an email from Bryan answering lots of their questions. Thank you, Bryan for all you are doing!

Beauclerc Has Spirit

Beauclerc students participated in crazy hat day on Friday. The hats were not all crazy but the "mood" in the classroom was very crazy!

Perfect Brownie Pan

Mrs. Jenkins had to try out her new birthday present from Mrs. Donnelly and her students this weekend. It worked great and the finished product was enjoyed by everyone!

Dead Word Cememtery

Putting Our DEAD Words to Rest

Fourth grade authors enjoyed a treat of tombstone cookies which they decorated for a DEAD word burial. Students have been learning about using synonyms for dead or overused, non-descriptive words in their writing. Words such as like, walk, nice, fun, run, and said were put to rest!

Sensational Symphony

Students in Mrs. Donnelly and Mrs. Jenkins' class enjoyed a field trip this week when fourth and fifth graders from Beauclerc were invited to the beautiful Times Union Center for the Performing Arts to listen to the Jacksonville Symphony. The concert began with the Star Spangled Banner and included pieces from American composers. Thank you, Ms. Laymon for organizing the trip.
