Understanding Author's Purpose

Fourth graders identified the author's purpose of different parts of the Florida Times Union newspaper including editorials, letter to the editor, news articles, comic strips, advertisements, sports and the parade section.  We discussed the importance of understanding an author's purpose, which is easy as P.I.E.
